Houston dog tests positive for rabies after biting owners

A dog in Houston testing positive for rabies after biting its owners. Delaware Division of Public Health saying the family pitbull became aggressive when being put in a kennel. Officials say the yard was not fenced and dog would go otu unleashed, so it is impossible to know when or how it became infected. The dog was since euthanized and owners beginning treatment. Officials are warning anyone living in southern Kent County who might have been scratched or bitten by the red and tan pitbull should contact the state Rabies Program hotline. Since the beginning of 2018, 2 animals have tested positive for rabies in the state; last year there were 16 confirmed cases of rabies in Delaware.
