Increased Funding Enhances Vital Services for People with Disabilities

Endless Possibilities in the Community (EPIC), a Newark based nonprofit specializing in community-based health and wellness programming for people with disabilities, has expanded the reach and impact of its activities thanks to recent financial support from Highmark Delaware. Todd Graham who is President and CEO of Highmark Health Options tells the Talk of Delmarva about EPIC, which includes two programs EPIC Day Services and EPIC Abilities…

He says they need additional activities and supports like retrofitting equipment to make it easier for them to do the exercise, and it also creates socialization activities. Graham says he sees these programs continuing to grow across the state of Delaware and help more and more members in upcoming years. EPIC Day Services, supported by the Division for Developmental Disabilities Services (DDDS), provides day services for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. EPIC Abilities is a pilot program for adults with physical disabilities not supported by DDDS.

Services are provided at multiple YMCAs throughout the state.

EPIC is a direct program and outreach that helps people with exercise and getting their diets under control and allows them to do socialization activities, which they otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to do on a regular basis. The program’s expansion in the state is due to recent financial support from Highmark Delaware. The six-figure commitment helps improve the health and well-being of nearly 150 Delawareans with special needs.
