Josh Hastings has filed for Maryland State Delegate to District 38-B – which represents Delmar, Salisbury and Fruitland. Hastings, a life-long resident of Wicomico County, is a 2-term Wicomico County Council member – and supports stronger schools, better job opportunities and a healthy, prosperous Eastern Shore.

Hastings prides himself as a common-sense, independent-minded, leader who supports better job opportunities, stronger schools, and a healthy, prosperous, Eastern Shore. Hastings points out that, as a member of the County Council, his key achievements include championing full funding for local education and helping secure $10M to ensure the construction of a new Mardela Middle and High School.

“Though we have covered a lot over the last seven years, I’m really proud to have been a part of bringing about a new county Water & Sewer Masterplan, helping securing extra funding to Salisbury area firefighters and first responders, helping secure pickleball and basketball courts at Harmon Field, and ensuring the creation of Pirate’s Wharf Park”, said Hastings. He went on to say that he has “introduced and passed legislation to help control invasive species, pushed for a cleaner Wicomico County, and worked to enhance democratic process and transparency in how the County Council and Executive Branch operates.”

Delegate Carl Anderton previously held the position until, upon request of Governor Moore, stepping down to lead rural economic development across the entire state.

Councilman Hastings went on to say that, “The last two elected officials to represent this district, Carl Anderton (R) and Norm Conway (D), were fierce advocates for the Eastern Shore and developed immense relationships with folks across the aisle and across the state. If elected, I will confidently pick up where they left off and ensure that the needs of the Lower Shore are heard and understood by the rest of the State.”

Josh Hastings is a husband, small business owner, and lifelong Wicomico County resident.
