Kent County will celebrate America/Delaware 250 on Tuesday. At 4pm there will be a ceremonial planting of the Liberty Tree at the Kent County Veterans Memorial Park. This is a living descendant of the original Maryland Liberty Tree that stood for over 400 years on the campus of St. John’s college in Annapolis. The tree and a commemorative plaque were donated by the Freemasons of Delaware.

Three Liberty Tree plantings being held – one in each county with Kent County the last to be planted. Sussex County’s tree was planted last Tuesday at the Hopkins Preserve west of Lewes – the New Castle County planting was in Middletown in mid-May. Following the Kent County planting the Levy Court will convene a special business meeting in the old State House at 7pm.
