UPDATED: Laurel Voters Deny Current Expense Referendum
UPDATED – 02/09/26 – Voters in the Laurel School District voted against raising taxes. By nearly 2 to 1 1113 voted against a current expense referendum – to help cover the operational needs while 612 voted to for the referendum.. District officials say they will review the feedback they’ve received.

ORIGINAL STORY – 02/08/26 – Voters in the Laurel School District will go to the polls on Monday to vote on a current expense referendum – to help cover the operational needs, The district is looking to raise $1.6-million to provide a competitive salary package, manage increased operating costs in utilities, personnel, maintenance, transportation, technology and special ed, safety & security, extra-curricular programming.
Polls will be open from 7am to 8pm at Laurel Elementary, North Laurel Early Learning Academy and Laurel Fire Department. To vote – you must be a resident of the Laurel School District, at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States and Delaware. You do NOT need to be a registered voter.
