Laurel High School Student in Custody Following Altercation, Knife Threat
November 13, 2025/
A student is in custody after an altercation in the Laurel School District–at the high school this morning. School District Superintendent Dr. Shawn Larrimore stated that before school started, students who had arrived by bus were in the gymnasium, which is the location where all bus riders report before going through the metal detectors to begin their day. The incident occurred during that time. One student pulled out a knife. Staff, constables, and the School Resource Officer responded immediately, and the situation was quickly contained. A student who attempted to break up the altercation sustained a minor cut above the knee. The student was treated on-site by medical staff and is fully OK. The student with the knife was immediately removed from the area and is fully secured by law enforcement. The incident is being addressed according to district policy and law enforcement procedures.
