Legislation Introduced in the DE Senate Would Increase School Safety

A bill introduced to the Delaware General Assembly Thursday would require new schools or schools undergoing a major renovation to include several safety measures. Senate Bill 273 includes a secured vestibule as the primary entrance to screen visitors with intercom or video call box and interior doors that can be released by school staff. The measure also includes ballistic-resistant glass and installation of a panic button or intruder alert system. The bill is awaiting consideration in the Senate Education Committee.
