UPDATED: Lewes Voters Return Incumbents to the City Council


UPDATED – 05/10/26 – Voters in Lewes have returned both incumbents to the City Council. Tim Ritzert won the most votes with 460 followed by Joseph Elder with 427. Challenger Kevin Keane won 392 votes. Ritzert and Elder will each serve three year terms and will be sworn in during a special meeting of the mayor and council on Tuesday, May 19th.

UPDATED – 05/08/26 – Lewes voters will go to the polls on Saturday, May 9 to elect two to the City Council. Incumbents Tim Ritzert and Joseph Elder are challenged by Kevin Keane – each term is for 3 years.

The polls are open Saturday from 8am to 6pm at City Hall.  The winners will be sworn at the May 19th City Council meeting.

There is NO Lewes Board of Public Works election this year – only the two incumbents – Preston Lee and Barbara Curtis filed for the two open seats – and will remain on the Board.

ORIGINAL STORY – 04/07/26 – There will be an election on May 9th to elect two candidates to the Lewes City Council. The filing deadline was last Thursday and city officials tell the Talk of Delmarva that three candidates have filed. Incumbents Joe Elder and Timothy Ritzert are challenged by Kevin Keane. The City Council will confirm the election and candidates at their April 13th meeting.

There will be NO election for the Lewes Board of Public Works on May 9th. Only the two incumbents filed for the two open seats, so Preston Lee and Barbara Curtis will remain on the Board.
