UPDATED: Lewes Crash Leaves Pedestrian Dead


UPDATED – 1/1/23 – The Delaware State Police have identified the victim who died in a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred in Lewes on December 30, 2022, as Joseph Francisco, 62, of Glen Mills, PA.


The investigation continues into a crash Friday night that left a pedestrian dead near the intersection of Coastal Highway and Postal Lane in Lewes. Delaware State Police say a 62 year old man from Pennsylvania was walking eastbound across the highway and moved into the path of a southbound pickup truck. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk, carrying a light or wearing reflective clothing – and ended up trapped underneath the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The 34 year old driver of the pickup from Lewes was not injured.
