A Lewes man has been arrested after a trooper on patrol Saturday night spotted an Acura driving on the wrong side of Robinsonville Road near Kendale Road in the Lewes area. A traffic stop led to the trooper observing signs of impairment on the driver – 54 year old Nathaniel Spencer of Lewes. The trooper also found Spencer’s vehicle had a shredded front tire and the Acura was riding on the rim. After conducting standard field sobriety tests, Spencer was arrested and a computer inquiry showed Spencer was under pre-trial conditions that prohibited him from driving or controlling a vehicle.

Spencer was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the offenses listed below:

  • 4th Offense DUI (Felony)
  • Breach of Conditions of Bond (Felony)
  • Driving in Proper Lane and Direction
  • Driving While Suspended or Revoked
  • Failure to Have Required Insurance
  • Other Traffic Violations

Spencer was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $8400 cash bond.
