Lincoln Man Arrested After Pursuit & Crash near Milton Sunday

Delaware State Police spotted a Maserati speeding northbound on Coastal Highway near Deep Branch Road around 1:30 Sunday afternoon and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver sped off on Coastal Highway and area roads before colliding with a Nissan SUV at Union Street Extended and Coastal Highway near Milton. The driver of the Maserati, identified as 30 year old Jaquell McDonald of Lincoln, ran off on foot – and was seen tossing drugs as he ran. McDonald was arrested without incident – and a search of the Maserati turned up marijuana, suspected drug proceeds and fake driver’s licenses from Arizona and Nevada.
The driver and passenger in the Nissan received minor injuries. McDonald was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
After being released, McDonald was taken to Troop 7 where he was charged with the crimes listed below:
- Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 3 Quantity (Felony)
- Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
- Attempted to Commit Tampering with Physical Evidence – Evidence Suppression (Felony)
- Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal (Felony)
- Vehicular Assault 3rd Degree – 2 counts
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Multiple Pursuit and Crash Related Traffic Violations
McDonald was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and committed to the Department of Correction on $75,514 cash bond.
