An individual who was magnet fishing at Byrd Park Friday notified Snow Hill Police that his equipment attached to something heavy and metal next to the south portion of the boat ramp. A sonar scan showed what looked to be some sort of vehicle, so Police called the  Ocean City Dive Team to examine and identify the object.

A large wooden frame with metal cross supports was removed from the river. Police say some locals believe it to be remnants of an old boxcar used many years ago to unload materials from the river.

Police say additional scans of the bulkhead at the boat ramp will be conducted in the near future to rule out any vehicles. Police have not identified the object.

Additional units on scene included the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company Inc., EMS Units, Boat 4, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources – Natural Resources Police
