Magnolia Man Charged after Pursuit in Rehoboth Beach

A Rehoboth Beach Police officer spotted a white Infiniti speeding on Rehoboth Avenue near Fifth Street around 7:30 Wednesday evening. The officer attempted a traffic stop by activating the emergency lights, but the driver did not stop and increased his speed. During a short pursuit the driver, identified as 18 year old Isaiah Stokes of Magnolia, committed additional traffic violations and then collided with two other vehicles not involved in the pursuit at Coastal Highway and Shuttle Road.

Stokes was taken to an area hospital for a self-reported injury and was treated and released. No other injuries were reported by any other parties involved in the collision.

Stokes was arrested and faces multiple charges:

  • Disregarding a Police Officer鈥檚 Signal (Felony)聽
  • Aggressive Driving (Misdemeanor)聽 聽
  • Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor)聽 聽
  • Driving a Vehicle at an Unreasonable or Imprudent Speed (Misdemeanor)聽
  • Speeding in Excess of Posted Limits (Misdemeanor)聽
  • Failure to Stop at a Red Light (Misdemeanor)聽 聽
  • Fail to Remain within a Single Lane (Misdemeanor)

Stokes was released on his own recognizance.
