Maryland commences “Year of Frederick Douglass”


2018 is the Year of Frederick Douglass. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan making the proclamation yesterday in order to celebrate the Eastern Shore native’s 200th birthday, which is today. Maryland’s Lt Governor, Officials from Talbot County, and descendent of Douglass will gather today for the groundbreaking of a new park in Queen Anne, called: “Frederick Douglass Park on the Tuckahoe”, which is less than a mile from Frederick Douglass’ birthplace along the Tuckahoe River.
