Maryland Customers to Receive Refunds in Lindsay Auto Settlement

The Federal Trade Commission and Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced that Lindsay Automotive Group and its executives will return money to resolve allegations that they deceived consumers for years with falsely advertised low prices and unwanted add-ons that led to buyers paying thousands of dollars more for their vehicles. More than $75 million in charges from April 2020 to December 2025 may be eligible for refunds. Lindsay will also pay a $3.1 million civil penalty to Maryland. The complaint accused Lindsay of charging higher prices than advertised, adding unwanted fees and requiring dealership financing, including for military consumers. Under the settlement, Lindsay must clearly disclose the total price of vehicles and obtain consumers’ consent before charging any fees. Notices will be sent to eligible customers, who can submit claims to receive refunds.
