Maryland Department of Transportation Releases $21.5 Billion Draft Six-Year Capital Budget

The Maryland Department of Transportation has released its Draft Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP) for Fiscal Years 2026–2031, outlining a $21.5 billion plan to improve safety, maintain roads and bridges, and support the state’s economy. With Governor Moore’s budget and roughly $400 million in new annual state revenues, Maryland has been able to use state funds to secure additional federal dollars, continuing a strategy from last year that boosts the total funding available for transportation projects. That approach has increased this year’s draft program by nearly $300 million compared to the previous Final CTP, meaning more resources for projects that directly affect drivers, commuters, and communities across the state. The $21.5 billion program includes key investments across all transportation modes including the prioritization of safety enhancements for pedestrians and vulnerable road users, along with vital system preservation projects statewide.
