Maryland State Fire Marshal: Queen Anne’s High School Fire–Accidental


A fire that occurred early yesterday evening at Queen Anne’s High School on Ruthsburg Road in Centreville has been ruled accidental. The blaze broke out after 7 p.m. in the back first floor office of the two-story educational building. The fire Alarm and sprinkler System were present and did activate. The Fire Alarm Company was alerted by the system and contacted 911. The school/building custodian also discovered the fire subsequent to the fire alarm activation. No deaths or injuries occurred with this fire, but total damage is estimated to be at聽 $30,000. 聽The school was closed for the day after the fire to enable clean-up. According to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the blaze was the result of an unspecified electrical event of a power surge protector.
