Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Crash In Worcester County
Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred yesterday evening in Worcester County. Police say the driver–identified as Gregory Roth, a 79-year-old man from Ocean City–was the sole occupant of a Nissan Altima, which was involved in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by EMS personnel from Berlin. Investigators of the crash are awaiting autopsy results by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Shortly before 9:30 p.m. last night, troopers from the Berlin Barrack responded to the scene–in the area of westbound U.S. Route 50 near MD Route 610 in Worcester County. According to the initial details of the investigation, the vehicle was traveling northbound on MD Route 610 at the intersection of westbound U.S. Route 50 when police believe the Nissan failed to stop at a stop sign located at the intersection. As a result, the Nissan struck a 2014 Ford F-150 that was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 50. The driver of the Ford F-150 refused medical treatment at the scene.

The westbound lanes of U.S. Route 50 were closed for an extensive period of time for investigation. Deputies from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to assist. Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with road closures. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the active and ongoing investigation.
