Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash In Wicomico County

One person is dead and two others injured following a single-vehicle crash that happened last night in Wicomico County. Police identified the driver as 18-year-old Matthew Garcia of Rockville, Maryland. Investigators say Garcia was driving a Honda Civic around 8:41 p.m. on South Division Street near Coulbourn Mill in Fruitland when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign, entered the intersection, and lost control. The vehicle struck a guardrail and came to rest in Coulbourn Mill Pond. Speeding is believed to have been a factor. Garcia was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a trauma center, where he later died. Two passengers聽 were injured including 18-year-old Andy Fon Koh of Takoma Park, who was flown to a shock trauma center, and 18-year-old Eyuael Zewdie of Washington, D.C., who was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
