Maryland’s marijuana industry keeps growing

On the last day of the 2018 General Assembly session, Maryland lawmakers approved legislation to expand the state’s medical marijuana industry.  The plan would issue seven new growing and 13 new processing licenses and could give minority-owned businesses a better chance to set up shop in the cannabis industry. Currently there are no medical marijuana companies owned by African-Americans in the state. The measure now moves to Governor Larry Hogan, who previously expressed support for expansion.
