Md. Citizens Redistricting Panel To Vote On Final Maps

The Maryland Citizens Redistricting Commission is getting set for its final meeting, at which it’s expected to vote on proposed maps of congressional and legislative districts.

The commission said more than 4,100 people took part in one of its 35 hearings that were held virtually and over social media. Final maps are already available at redistricting.maryland.gov

Governor Larry Hogan appointed members to the balanced commission, in an attempt to avoid the kind of gerrymandering that has taken place in the past. Hogan has been critical of a General Assembly redistricting panel, which he says has not done a good job of involving and informing the public.

The Citizens Commission is scheduled to met Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
