Delaware State Police have arrested an Upper Marlboro, Maryland man on multiple felony charges following a domestic related incident.

According to the Delaware State Police Department, around 9 p.m., Sunday troopers were dispatched to Thawley Lane in Milford for reports of a domestic-related burglary.

When police arrived they met with a 31-year-old female who advised that while she and her two children were in a vehicle, driven by her boyfriend, 29-year-old Kyle M. Gibbons, an argument ensued that allegedly resulted in Gibbons trying to strangle her.

Gibbons refused to exit the vehicle following the initial altercation, according to police, and proceeded to drive them to the children’s father’s house.

The victim and her children were eventually able to exit the vehicle unharmed.

Gibbons, who initially left the area after dropping the victim and her children off, returned and reportedly tried to break into the father’s home on Thawley Lane, according to police, which was unoccupied at the time.

Gibbons kicked in the front door and entered the home for a short period of time, police said. As he was leaving, Gibbons allegedly kicked the overhead garage door causing damage before fleeing the area.

Gibbons was located in his vehicle a short time later in the parking lot of Bayhealth Hospital in Milford. He was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, Strangulation, Unlawful Imprisonment, Criminal Mischief, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Gibbons was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $21,000.00 secured bond.
