Millsboro Man Charged with 10th Offense DUI

A Millsboro man has been arrested after his 10th offense DUI Thursday morning. Delaware State Police were called to Main Street near Daisey Road near Gumboro after a report of a pickup truck striking a fence and the driver running off on foot. Police located the suspect, identified as 54 year old Charles Smith and detected the odor of alcohol.

A DUI investigation was started and a computer check showed Smith’s driver’s license was revoked and he had 9 prior DUI offenses. He faces multiple charges:

  • Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol (Felony)
  • Leaving the Scene of a Property Collision Accident
  • Driving While Suspended or Revoked
  • Failure to Provide Information at a Collision Scene
  • Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession
  • Failed to Remain Within a Single Lane
  • Failure to Report a Collision to the Police

Smith is being held at SCI in default of a $15,500 cash bond.
