Millsboro Man Charged with Drug & Weapons Offenses after Traffic Stop

A Millsboro man has been arrested by Delaware State Police after at traffic stop Saturday night on Park Avenue in Georgetown. Police spotted an Explorer driven by 25 year old Andrew Long who had active warrants and no valid driver’s license. After police pulled Long over, he started to run off – while carrying a handgun. Long stopped when ordered and dropped the gun and was arrested. The handgun was recovered and a search of the vehicle turned up a small amount of marijuana. Long faces multiple charges:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by Person Prohibited (Felony)- 3 counts
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Driving While Suspended
  • Failure to Have Insurance
  • Failure to Wear Seatbelt

Long was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $101,502 cash bond.
