A Lewes woman is behind bars on drug and DUI charges after police say she crashed her vehicle while driving high near Milton.

According to Delaware State Police, troopers were dispatched to Cool Spring Road, just south of Milton, around 7 a.m. Thursday for reports of a vehicle collision.

Police arrived and saw a black Ford F-250 pickup truck that hit a utility pole with the wires down across the roadway.

The sole occupant and driver of the pickup truck was identified as 25-year-old Tori Luff, of Lewes, who was sitting down outside of the vehicle. She refused medical treatment at the scene.

During the investigation, an odor of marijuana was detected and was located in her purse.

Once the power lines were rendered safe a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted.

Upon opening the driver’s side door, police located multiple rounds of .40 caliber Smith and Wesson bullets along with 47 small round blue Clonazepam pills, a Vyvanse capsule, and a small scale commonly used to weigh narcotics.

A loaded Glock .45 caliber handgun, a glass vile with crack cocaine that weighed half a gram, along with drug paraphernalia.

Luff appeared to be intoxicated and showed multiple signs of impairment.

A DUI investigation was initiated which police say appeared to show that she was strongly under the influence of an unknown narcotic.

At this point, Luff asked to go to the hospital. After she was released, she was transported back to Troop 7 in Lewes and charged with Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony), two counts of Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Pills), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana and DUI drugs.

Luff was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $13,701.00 cash bond.
