Milton man charged with DUI, arrested on drug charges in Lewes

A Milton man was arrested on drug charges after police say he was caught driving high with heroin, meth, and several other drugs in Lewes.

According to the Delaware State Police Department, around 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, troopers conducted a traffic stop on a silver Landrover SUV on Beaver Dam Road in Lewes after the driver failed to signal a lane change and remain within a single lane.

The Landrover was occupied by the driver and sole occupant, 51-year-old Harry Johnson Jr., of Milton, Delaware.

Troopers made contact with Johnson and detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Further investigation revealed he was driving under the influence of drugs.

A search of the vehicle turned up approximately 0.14 grams of heroin, 83 Amphetamine pills, 4 Buprenorphine pills, 23 grams of Marijuana, 6.6 grams of Hashish, 0.8 grams of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia.

Johnson was taken into custody and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, Failure to have Insurance Identification in Possession, Failed to remain in a single lane, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts), Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Tier 4 Quantity, and Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance with aggravated factor (5 counts).

Johnson was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $80,626 secured bond.
