Multiple Eastern Shore economic development initiatives win awards

Maryland’s Economic Development Association will be honoring a slew of Eastern Shore initiatives coming up at its annual Awards Ceremony. The Ratcliffe Foundation Shore Hatchery at the University of Salisbury will receive a small community program award for its creation of 179 jobs and $4 million in revenues. The Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Experience in Cambridge is getting a Marketing Award for surpassing its goal of 75,000 visitors by 20%, and increasing tax revenue for Dorchester County. And the executive director of the Salisbury-Wicomico Economic Development Corporation, David Ryan, will be inducted into the MEDA Hall of Fame for his 24 year career at the helm, during which he negotiated over $25 million worth of deals and brought in or retained over 5,000 jobs. The MEDA awards ceremony will take place in April.
