Muskrat season extended a week in Maryland. The Department of Natural Resources announcing the weeklong extension yesterday, saying the extremely cold and snowy weather in January hampered trappers by limiting access to waterways and wetlands, which reduced ability and opportunity to trap muskrat. Officials determined the weather severely impacted trapping opportunities and to help fur trappers out, the season will now close March 22nd.
