National Weather Service has Confirmed the Blizzard for Sussex County on Feb 23

The National Weather Service has now confirmed the blizzard that we experienced in the early morning hours of February 23rd in inland and coastal Sussex County and southern New Jersey.

Blizzard criteria are met when sustained winds or frequent gusts of 35 mph accompanied by falling and/or blowing snow frequently reduce visibility to less than 1/4 mile for 3 or more hours during an event.

All verification data are considered preliminary until certified in NWS StormData. The exact start and end times of blizzard conditions in these areas will be documented in NWS StormData.
