UPDATED: National Weather Service Says at Least EF-1 Tornado Damage in the Dover Area


UPDATED – 5:20pm – The National Weather Service is in Kent County surveying the storm damage near Dover as well as near Barclay and Marydel in Queen Anne’s County in Maryland that occurred Thursday evening. The National Weather Service has confirmed that at least EF-1 tornado damage with estimated peak winds occurred with the tornado that impacted the Dover area. Surveys are still ongoing and updates will become available within the next few days.

ORIGINAL STORY – 08/22/26 – 2:24pm – The National Weather Service is in Kent County surveying the storm damage near Dover that occurred Thursday evening. Meteorologists will meet with Kent County officials – the Kent County Office of Emergency Management is leading the survey of the storm. A final assessment – including results of the survey – are expected later this afternoon at http://www.weather.gov/phi
