Ocean City Man Charged with Weapons Offenses and Aggravated Menacing in Dewey Beach

A disturbance at The Starboard in Dewey Beach Saturday night led to the arrest of 37 year old Matthew Slentz of Ocean City. Delaware State Police were called to assist Starboard employees with removing a disorderly subject from the premises, but he refused to comply. The subject, identified as Slentz, pulled a concealed razor blade from his hoodie and lunged at the trooper. He continued to refuse verbal commands and was arrested after he was tased. A search of Slentz turned up the razor blade and a concealed spring-loaded switchblade knife. There were no injuries.

Slentz was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Disorderly Conduct

Slentz was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $22,050 secured bond.
