Ocean City mulls becoming “bike-friendly”

Hermann-Financial

Ocean City considering becoming a designated “bike-friendly” town. The Council heard a presentation from the town’s engineer this week on what it would take to get the official moniker. The resort would have to form a Bike and Pedestrian Committee and review any road construction to make it more bicycle and pedestrian friendly.

While Ocean City already receives grants from Maryland for bike projects, the “bike-friendly” designation would make grant funding even more available. The Council decided to have the City Manager prepare a report on the financial impact of the program, as well as conduct a street audit to determine the feasibility of the project.
