Ocean View Fire Accidental – 4 Homes Damaged

Millville VFC  firefighters were called for a residential structure fire Saturday evening around 5 in Ocean View. Crews arriving on the scene at Scarborough Lane found a single family home on fire. The residents were able to escape safely – but noticed a pile of mulch on fire and spreading into a tree next to the home. Multiple crews from Sussex and Worcester County assisted or provided back up and fire officials say battling the fire was complicated by high winds and fireworks stored in the garage!

State Fire Marshal investigators determined the fire was accidental and began in a pile of mulch adjacent to the home.  The fire spread and damaged three additional single family homes. Total damages are estimated at $1-million. No injuries were reported. Firefighters were on the scene for over 2 and a half hours.
