Ocean City Police have partnered with other allied law enforcement in the monitoring of social media in reference to social media-driven ‘takeover’ events. OC Police received word from Baltimore PD of an ‘Late Night Beach Party Link Up’ for June 18. This event was being planned by individuals identified on the 16th during an arrest of a wanted individual in downtown Ocean City – three others were identified as promoting takeover events in Ocean City – and one, 20 year old Mehkai Tindal of Baltimore was using social media to advertise the sale of drugs within Ocean City. Police arranged an undercover purchase of drugs from Tindal and after the purchase was made, Tindal was arrested during a traffic stop. Police also executed search warrants at a motel near 19th Street where Tindal was staying and recovered additional drugs and distribution-related materials and a vehicle.

Tindal was charged with the distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. He was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and held on a $5,000 bond.
