Petition to Preserve Collective Bargaining in Salisbury Turned over to City

An attempt to preserve collective bargaining for Salisbury’s first responders and public employees has be delivered to the city – a petition with over 6000 signatures. Shore Progress initiated the petition drive. The City of Salisbury now must verify the signatures on the petition before collective bargaining can appear on the ballot – to be decided by Salisbury voters. At the end of May, the Salisbury City Council voted to end the city’s union agreement.

Salisbury Mayor Randy Taylor tells the Talk of Delmarva that the City Clerk’s office will verify the petition – then the Wicomico County Board of Elections gets involved. A special election would likely occur within 90 days of the certification of the petition.
