Police: Milton man behind bars after argument with girlfriend turns violent

A Milton man was arrested and charged with multiple weapons-related offenses after police say an argument with his girlfriend turned violent when he pulled out a handgun.

According to Delaware State Police, around 11:30 p.m., Saturday troopers were called to a home on Bangor Lane in Milton, for reports of a man threatening a woman with a handgun.

Troopers arrived and learned that 25-year-old Kaleb R. Lemaire was engaged in an argument with his girlfriend at the time of the incident, during which he allegedly pointed a handgun at her and threatened to shoot her.

The victim was able to flee the residence uninjured.

Responding troopers secured the area around the home and were able to locate Lemaire in a vehicle adjacent to the residence. He was taken in to custody without incident.

After searching the property, police located the handgun in the yard.

Lemaire was arrested and charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing, Terroristic Threatening, and Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $68,000 secured bail.
