Preston Man Charged with False Statement to Police

A Preston man has been charged with five counts of false statement to a police officer and one count of obstructing and hindering a police officer. Easton Police met with 23 year old Christian Murphy on July 7th in reference to an armed robbery the night before. Murphy told police he was walking to his vehicle in the Aldi parking lot when a man with a gun approached him and took his money. Detectives began an investigation looking at surveillance video from local businesses and discovered the armed robbery never happened.

Easton Police served a criminal summons on Murphy on Thursday, July 13th.
