Public Hearing Thursday on Atlantic Striped Bass Regulations in Dover

A public hearing on a proposed addendum to the Atlantic Striped Bass Interstate Fisheries Management Plan will be held on Thursday, August 29th at 6pm in the DNREC Auditorium in Dover.  The public hearing is being held by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission which is proposing to reduce fishing-related mortality by 18% in response to the 2018 Striped Bass Benchmark Stock Assessment, which indicates that the population was over-fished and over-fishing was occurring.  A range of coast-wide management options for both commercial and recreational fishing sectors is proposed that would end over-fishing and reduce mortality to the target level in 2020.
