Rehoboth Announces Deadlines For Voters To Register, Candidates To File

The annual Rehoboth Beach elections will be held Saturday, August 14th. Deadlines have been announced for candidates to file and for voters to get registered.

This year, two positions on the Board of Commissioners are up. Candidates who are interested in running must file a nominating petition by June 7th. Nominating petitions can be obtained by sending an email to elections@cityofrehoboth.com or by calling 302-227-6181 ext. 159.

The positions that are open this year are currently held by Richard Byrne and Patricia Coluzzi. Terms are for three years.

Also, the deadline to register to vote in the Rehoboth election is July 15th. The city released these requirements to vote:

Those who wish to vote in this election must be at least 18 and a resident, freeholder, or 10-year leaseholder in the City of Rehoboth Beach. The deadline to register to vote in this election is close of business July 15. To register to vote, individuals must appear in person at City Hall, which reopens to the public June 1. In addition to regular business hours, City Hall will be open from 8:30 am-noon Saturdays, June 5-July 10, except for July 3, when it鈥檚 closed for the holiday weekend.

Any qualified elector may request an absentee ballot by filing a written Absentee Ballot Request form no later than noon the day before the election. The deadline for the City to mail absentee ballots is August 10. Certain requirements must be met to vote absentee. For more information, call Donna Moore or Jean Lee at 302-227-6181, ext. 159.
