Rehoboth Beach Continues Blizzard Recovery Efforts

As is the case with other areas on Delmarva, the City of Rehoboth Beach is still recovering from the blizzard this past Sunday and Monday. Crews are actively working throughout the City to restore power, clear downed trees, and address storm-related impacts. Delmarva Power has local and contracted crews assisting with outage restoration. City teams are prioritizing clearing roadways, supporting power restoration efforts, and preparing for scheduled events, which may delay snow removal from public parking areas. Residents and visitors are encouraged to consider alternative transportation options due to limited parking. City officials say portions of Rehoboth Avenue will be temporarily closed for snow clearing, and updates will be provided when reopened. Businesses may hire contractors for snow removal but are reminded not to place snow onto sidewalks or previously cleared areas. Cleanup of debris and tree damage will continue after priority safety concerns are addressed.

Power

Delmarva crews are in town and has contracted crews from Baltimore to come provide additional assistance with restoring power around the City. If you are still without power, please know they are working hard. You can check or report outages here:

Streets/Parking/Driving:

With the heavy snowfall, our crews are stretched thin right now as they work through downed trees, assist with any cleanup necessary for Delmarva power to restore power, and support the Polar Plunge. Because of that workload, we don’t have an estimated timeline yet for clearing snow from on‑street public parking. We know how important those spaces are and will get to them as soon as we’re able.

There are several events taking place in town this weekend. If you are attending one, or coming in for an unrelated visit, please consider taking the DART bus, a rideshare, or walking when possible. If you do drive, please be prepared to park a bit farther away to walk to your destination, as parking is more limited than usual.

The lower horseshoe area of Rehoboth Avenue – from the Bandstand bathrooms to the Boardwalk, will be closed beginning at 1:00am on Thursday, Feb. 26 to clear that area. We will provide an update when it reopens.

Business Shoveling/Plowing:

Businesses that need to clear their sidewalks and/or parking lots can hire outside contractors to shovel/plow, please remind them not put the snow back onto sidewalks or previously cleared areas.

Downed trees and branches:

We know there are countless trees and branches down. At this time, the priority for crews is to clear those from power lines and from the roadways. Once the City is safely cleared and restored, work will begin on cleaning up the debris and assessing tree damage. This could take some time, so we appreciate your patience.
