Rehoboth Beach Starbucks Among Hundreds to Close
The Starbucks on Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth Beach is one of hundreds of locations that will be closed by Sunday. Starbucks website says that the closures will represent about 1% of its stores – and that by the end of FY 2025 – they will still have nearly 18,300 locations in the US, Canada and Europe.
Chairman & CEO Brian Niccol posted on the company’s website that they are working in support of their Back to Starbucks plan. This includes closing locations that they don’t see a path to financial performance. This also includes the elimination of about 900 current non-retail partner roles and closing many open positions. Those people were notified of their elimination on Friday.
The bulk of the closures will be in the US and Canada. Two locations in Maryland have been named to close as well – in Silver Spring and Rockville.
