A Rehoboth man was arrested on a slew of charges after police say he led them on a chase through Seaford.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 6:20 p.m., Monday as troopers witnessed a silver Mercury Grand Marquis traveling northbound on Concord Pond Road in Seaford without a license plate tag light and functioning taillights.
Police tried to perform a traffic stop, at which time the driver refused to stop and continued to travel northbound on Concord Pond Road.
The driver turned onto King Road and then onto Coverdale Road traveling at a high rate of speed and committing multiple traffic violations, according to police.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop after it slid off the edge of Coverdale Road.
The driver got out of the vehicle and fled on foot after the vehicle left the roadway.
Troopers were able to locate the driver, 35-year-old Everett Burton of Rehoboth, in the woods.
Burton was taken into custody without further incident and charged with Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony), Resisting Arrest, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Aggressive Driving, and multiple traffic-related violations. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $3008.00 secured bond.
