Route 50 Bridge in O.C. to close overnight all next week

The Route 50 Bridge into Ocean City will be closed overnight all next week so crews can shore up some steel beams that are showing signs of age. MDOT says the bridge will shut down between 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., beginning Sunday, April 15, running through Friday, April 20.
Traffic will be detoured onto Route 90. MDOT spokesman Charlie Gischlar says the work is taking place now to avoid any problems during the summer. About 33,000 vehicles use the bridge each day most of the year but that number rises significantly during the summer months.
