ORIGINAL STORY – 11/21/25 – A Salisbury man has been convicted in the Circuit Court of Wicomico County of a firearm straw purchase and illegal possession of regulated firearm. After a three-day trial a jury found 35 year old Terrance White guilty on Wednesday. White will remain in custody pending the completion of a pre-sentence investigation.

Court records show that White sold a firearm to Dequan Bratten on November 16 of 2024 – the same day that Bratten shot his estranged wife four times. Miraculously, despite the long-term effects of her injuries, the victim survived.  There was evidence received at trial indicating White also provided ammunition to Bratten, showed Bratten how to use the firearm and was aware of Bratten’s intentions towards the victim, although the jury declined to convict on charges that White was an accomplice to attempted murder.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes commented, “Those who deal in illegal firearms create a significant public safety risk to our community and they will be held accountable. Terrance White’s conviction reflects the unwavering commitment of Wicomico County law enforcement and my Office to holding violent offenders accountable and to protecting our community.”

SA Dykes commended the members of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, including the lead investigator, Detective Chaffey, for her hard work. SA Dykes also commended the lead prosecutor on the case, Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Lauren Bourdon, for her skill and professionalism in litigating the matter.
