Salisbury man gets 40 years in prison for domestic abuse incident

A man from Salisbury will spend 40 years behind bars for a violent case of domestic abuse in 2017. 28-year old Joseph Ellis has pleaded guilty to the charges related to that assault at a home on Purnell Street last February. Ellis tossed a woman out the door threw a chair through a window at police and barricaded himself inside. When police entered the home, Ellis was found hanging from a cord. The female victim was left severely injured―a police officer was also hurt by flying glass. Once out of prison, Ellis will also be on  supervised probation for four years
