UPDATE: Suspect Arrested; Salisbury & Maryland State Police Investigating a Homicide in Salisbury Tuesday
UPDATE– 7/6/25:
Maryland State Police arrested a Wicomico County man in connection to the fatal shooting in Salisbury on Tuesday night. 18-year-old Jonathan Leross Jobe of Salisbury charged with first- and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and other firearm related charges. Jobe is currently being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center on an unrelated arrest warrant. The 24-year-old victim is identified as Dajaud Rae’heim Townsend of Salisbury. Townsend was pronounced deceased by emergency medical services personnel while en route to the hospital. Police say shots were fired on Smith Street on July 15th. Officers responded just after 5:30 p.m. and located Townsend in the backyard of the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit assumed the investigation and identified Jobe as a suspect. Additional assistance was provided by the Salisbury Police Department, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police Aviation Command.

Salisbury and Maryland State Police are investigating what is now a homicide. Police say a 24 year old man was taken to the hospital with critical injuries after an assault with a firearm that occurred on Smith Street around 5:30 Tuesday evening.
