Seaford Man Arrested for Assault & Weapons Offenses


Delaware State Police were called to Jones Dogwood Lane in Bridgeville for an assault on Thursday. When police arrived they found two injured female victims and witnesses. Police learned that the suspect, 51 year old Richard Weston of Seaford argued with the two victims – aged 54 and 36 – after repeatedly trespassing onto their property. Weston grabbed a garden rake from a neighbor’s property and assaulted the 54 year old victim – causing puncture injuries to her body. He struck the 36 year old victim in the face with his hands injuring her eye and hand. Weston was gone when police arrived.

An arrest warrant was issued for Weston. On September 15, 2023, troopers located and arrested Weston. He was transported to Troop 5 where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Assault 2nd Degree (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing 2x (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Assault 3rd Degree
  • Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree

Weston was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $83,050 cash bond.
