Nanticoke Health Services and the Peninsula Regional Health System have announced a definitive affiliation agreement.

The agreement, pending final state and federal regulatory approval expected in November will have Nanticoke Health Services working under the Peninsula Regional Health System umbrella.

Approximately two years ago, Nanticoke began searching for a partner to “preserve and build upon services it provides in Sussex County.” Officials say no immediate changes in staffing or the delivery of healthcare at either system is expected.

Nanticoke Health Services President and CEO Steve Rose, RN MN said “In order to further [it’s] mission to provide the best care possible for our community, it became imperative we find a strong, compatible healthcare partner.” Steve Leonard, Ph.D., MBA, FACHE, the President and CEO of Peninsula Regional Health System said “Peninsula Regional Health System is honored to have this opportunity to bring the Nanticoke team together with ours to form an unparalleled partnership of healthcare excellence. “

This follows PRHS’s expected acquisition of McCready Health of Crisfield, expected to receive final regulatory approval in late 2019. The new health system is expected to be renamed, although Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Peninsula Regional Medical Center and McCready will keep their names at their individual locations.
