UPDATED: Body of Missing Swimmer in Rehoboth Beach Saturday has been Located

UPDATED – 07/16/25 – The body of man who went missing in the ocean off Olive Avenue in Rehoboth Beach Saturday evening has been located. Rehoboth Beach Police were called around 1:30pm Wednesday when the body of 27 year old Gregory Karitu of Kenya was found in the water off the coast of Cape Henlopen near Herring Point. Police say there was no foul play suspected in his death.

ORIGINAL STORY – Rehoboth Beach Police were called just after 7:30 Saturday evening to help search for a missing swimmer in the area of the beach off Olive Avenue. The Coast Guard, DNREC, Rehoboth Beach Fire Company and Delaware State Police also aided in the search.
The missing swimmer is a black male in his 20s – about 6-feet tall and 160 to 170 pounds.
US Coast Guard aviation continued the search after emergency personnel cleared from the beach.
Rehoboth Beach Police confirm there was a second swimmer in the water – a friend of the missing man. However the second swimmer was never in distress.
