Update: DSP Identify Woman Killed In Crash With Truck Tractor

UPDATED – 7/30/21 – 3pm – Delaware State Police have identified the individual who died in the fatal motor vehicle crash on Wednesday, July 28 on Canterbury Road, as 33-year-old Leslie J. McMullen of Wilmington. This collision remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit. Anyone with information should contact Sgt. Delaware State Police are investigating a crash in Milford that claimed the life of a Lincoln woman whose car crossed the center line of Canterbury Road and collided with a Peterbilt truck tractor that was pulling a trailer.

At about 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, the woman was traveling northbound on Canterbury Road when she started to travel into the southbound lane. A 64-year-old man who was driving the truck tractor was unable to avoid a collision with the car. The car spun around and the woman, who was not buckled up, was thrown from the vehicle.

The 33-year-old woman died at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The truck was heavily damaged and the driver was unable to steer. The truck left the roadway and struck several trees before it stopped. The truck driver was not injured.

The fatal crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit at 302-697-4454.

A serious crash Wednesday morning has closed a portion of Canterbury Road (Route 15) in the Milford area.

According to Delaware State Police, Canterbury Road is closed between Deer Valley Road and Rothermel Road. Motorists should find an alternate route.

State Police said the closure could be lengthy.
